In this story, Why the Sun is Bright by Lillooet, we get to learn how the sun got so bright.

A young boy and his grandma were abandoned by their town because they were angry with the young boy. The entire town up and left. The grandma and young boy feared that they would starve. So the grandma sent the boy out to kill small animals such as birds and squirrels so that they could have food. The grandma would make robes out of the the skins of bird, the robes were very big and bright.

The boy would go down trails often and find animals to shoot so they could have food. The Sun saw the young boy and admired his robe. The Sun had a plain white, bland goatskin robe. The Sun approached the young boy and asked if he would trade him robes. At first the young boy said no. But the Sun showed him how his goatskin robe helped catch fish. The young boy eventually agreed and traded robes with the Sun.
