Reading B: The Man and the Monkeys

The Man and the Monkeys: Tibetan Folk Tales by A.L. Shelton

A man found the garden of Eden and thought to himself how perfect it was. He decided he was going to live there, it had everything he would ever need.
He was tired and decided to take a nap. He climbed into a tree and fell into deep sleep.
So deep of a sleep that he went to turn over and fell out of the tree and into a lake.

A monkey saw him fall and went to help him out of the lake. The monkey was too small and the man was too big.  The monkey was determined to save the man so he exercised every day by picking up small rocks and working his way up to larger rocks.

Eventually, he was strong enough to pull the man from the water. The man didn't feel well so the monkey told him to exercise in which the man did. He soon felt better. He decided to take another nap but this time on the ground. He did not get much sleep because they monkeys in the trees were moving around and talking.

He wanted to bring his family here to live but knew that the monkeys were too loud. When the monkeys went to sleep he shook the trees until all the moneys fell to their death.

He left the garden to get his family and bring them to live there. The monkey god who watches over all the monkeys, saw what happened. He turned himself into a snake and ate the man.
